Plante vivace de 20-40 cm, glabre, à souche pourvue de renflements tubéreux; tiges ailées, faibles, ascendantes, non grimpantes
Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Bois et prés montueux, dans presque toute la France et en Corse.
Répartition hors de France : Europe, surtout occidentale et centrale.

A rather slender, glabrous perennial with a single, little-branched, winged stem about 23 cm high, growing from a creeping and tuberous rhizome.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) occurs in woods and pastures ail over the British Isles, but chiefly on non-calcareous soils in the north.

Fleurs : d'un rouge violacé puis bleuâtres, assez grandes (12-15 mm), 2-5 en grappes lâches dépassant la feuille ; calice à dents très inégales
